Since [personal profile] northstarfan recently gave us a brief look at what's happening in The Unwritten #12 (and despite the fact that since "unwritten" still describes, for the moment, one of my papers for this semester), I thought I'd do a post about what Mike Carey and Peter Gross have in store for us for next week and the two months after that.

ETA: The images should be displaying correctly now.

First up is next week's The Unwritten #13.

New storyline! Tom Taylor is back in London hoping to connect with his father at the launch of his new novel. But he's not the only one: The Cabal has sent their hit man to kill Wilson Taylor if he appears. And as other monsters converge on Tom, he starts to realize that he's walked into not one trap but two...

I like this cover a lot. When I first saw it previewed on Graphic Content (the Vertigo blog), I said "oooh" literally out loud.

Then there's #14, due June 9th. The picture's a larger size so that the characters can be seen more clearly.

The unveiling of the new Tommy Taylor novel is only a day away. London is locked down tight, and Tom's enemies are starting to circle – but it's his friends he should be watching…

This is another great cover from Yuko Shimizu. Over at Graphic Content, editor(?) Pamela Mullin wants to know if anyone recognizes all the people, apart from Tom, on the cover. Do you, scans_daily? My guesses are here, whited out to let you guys make your own attempts first: Professor Tulkinghorn, Ernie Eccles(?) (Wilson's publisher), Sue (Wilson's mistress), Frankenstein's monster, Kipling, M. Chadron, someone who could be Richard Savoy, Count Ambrosio, Mark Twain, Pullman, Mme. Chadron, an old man who could be Wilson, Tommy Taylor (the book character) and Mingus his winged cat, Cosi and Leon Chadron, a knight who I guess is Sir Roland, Mathilde Venner, Lizzie Hexam, a rabbit that I'm guessing is Pauly Bruckner, Rupert Swope, and another guy who is probably (going to be?) a major villain, from the look of him.
It's quite a list, and I don't even think I've got everyone (and maybe there are some we haven't been introduced to yet).

And finally, #15 - due July 14th.

While Lizzie wanders through a Dickens novel in search of a past she thought she'd left behind her, Tom pursues his father through the streets of London and ends up in a maze made out of stories. Hopefully he'll realize this maze has a monster at its heart...

Lizzie in her original story! :D This should be good. I might have to go find a copy of Our Mutual Friend (;D) now...

For all trade-waiters (and trade collectors!) out there, The Unwritten Vol. 2: Inside Man (which collects issues 6-12) has been solicited for August 11. I'm looking forward to it very, very much. ♥
